[DH] 140 min; Box set packaging; Pay-per-view cable special available on many different LPs and CDs. Of course bootleg videos also circulate.
Excellent recording, unsurprisingly.

[Woodstrock@aol.com] I see that Hampton 81 is very high on readers list. What is it about Swinging Pig that has got everyone snowed.
They used the dreaded no-noise system that ruined Welcome To NY and Hampton 81. A better version of Hampton can be found on the Title
"20 Flight Rock". IMHO the first version of "Get Your Leed Lungs" is better than the so called "20 bit remaster" version because once again they
no-noised the shit out of the tape. Listen to the cymbals on the original version and hear the crispness.
On the new version the cymbols have no presence.

[jaaiii] Second edition, remastered gold discs. Some people feel the Pig's DNR and 20 bit process screws up the sound rather than enhance it.
Supposedly TWENTY FLIGHT ROCK [GLIMMERPUB 15001/002] is the definitive version of this gig.

[jmarko@acad.suffolk.edu] The Hampton gold Cd set has better stereo and has eliminated some of the distortion from the first edition.
And the intro bit is longer.

Dave Heller wrote, regarding John Rutherford's find of the old boot Hot Pants & Wet Panties:

"It has been several years since I heard this old 2 LP set (aka Happy Birthday Charlie)
but don't think it's soundboard. It sounds like a decent audience recording to my ears."

I have this boot in it's Happy Birthday Charlie vinyl incarnation, and can confirm it is a very good audience recording. It is mono, but compares
favorably with every 1975 audience I have heard with the exception of the July shows at the L.A. Forum.

[Ulf Kjellstrom, ulfk@artech.se]
I have just finished reviewing 50 of my latest bootlegs. When I came to "The Harder They Come", a 2CD from Idol Mind Productions in Italy it was in
the middle of the day,I was not tired at all and completely sober. I listened as I always do concentrated at every single song. On disc 2 a very good
Talla Hassie Lassie with Mick, then a wonderful ballad You married an angel with Keith and The harder they come.
After that came Serious and I wrote "Then superrocking with Mick on Serious and good rocking on two versions of Not The Way To Go".
I am absolutely sure I didn't mix it up with them because this Serious with Mick was completely different. I almost jumped and chills up my spine
while Not The Way To Go I called just good rocking and found them all right but not at all in the Serious class.

[Patrice TROUSSET] I bought the 3cd compilation of the Nijmegen (13&14) and Landgraaf (18 june). Packaging is nice. A 12 page booklet double cd
size, with 8 full color foto's of the whole stage, 2 constuction drawings of the stage, pictures of the tickets and track info. Sound quality is a good to
excellent audience recording.
To my count this is 13th=19, 14th=6, 18th=8 total 33 songs. I think I'm very happy with this one [I'm playing disk 2 now] no, mine is on : Midnight
Beat, Luxembourg cd's MB CD 054, MB CD 055, MB CD 056 and on the cd's it says "p 1995 Czech Republic". I payed Ngl 120, a nice black box,

[Dave Heller] For the 1/21/73 2nd show, my tape is complete (with SF Man), and beats the rare Outsider Bird "Honey-Loo-Loo," which I believe is the
source for the Scorpio CD, which I haven't heard. "1973 Tour in Hawaii" is the CD I have, and it's 1/21 1st show, the same thing that's been on boot
LP for years. There is nothing from the 1/22 show. Is the VGP CD the one in the cardboard sleeve, with the cover from the original LP?
I heard this at Dieter's, and it sounded good, but I was unable to tell if it's better than the CD I have.
It runs faster than my CD; not sure which is correct. Note that the old programs and hence the CD I have mistakenly give the dates as 1/22 and 23,
which caused confusion for years. Limited #300 copies.

[CDR H. KEESE, hs7co@roosevelt.navy.mil] I got Skippy's response on my question on the quality of various Miami shows. Just read DaMickboy's response and I tend to agree with him. But -- if you A/B "HOODOO U VOODOO" and "Miami Dice" you will hear the "audio gremlins" on both CDs. Definitely more pronounced on "HUV", but still there on "Miami Dice". It's been months since I did this and I don't have immediate access to my CDs right now, or I would give you specifics, but I did compare and that is definitely the case. As I remember, "Sympathy", "Tumblin' Dice", and "Live With Me" were particularly noticable. But still the overall sound quality on both is very, very good, IMHO. They do sound slightly compressed, but that's a function being a broadcast recording.

[DH] 90 min; One of the Stones longest concerts, definitely the longest of the '60s and '70s, before a large crowd.
The Stones worked up a special expanded set list for this show only. Many audience tape recorders were running as well as the soundboard, plus there's
also pro-shot video! The audience tapes are available on several LPs ranging from lousy to fairly good. Frustratingly the soundboard recording
is incomplete, and the best version is on a rare German LP which also runs too fast. Neither of the 2 videos is close to complete either.
To get the entire 2.5 hour show you must obtain about 3 LPs/CDs, as every one is missing something.

[chrisk@grove.ufl.EDU] The CD of this is probably from the same source as my LP recording. The File gives this 2Cd a 7/8s-Vid/Aud rating which is
the same for my LP. It runs fast though but is much clearer and closer a SB recording than the one you are asking about.
However, as with Everybody's Got to Go, it is not a complete show. It is missing Stray Cat Blues and much of the in-between chatter of Mick.
Dave Heller is listed under the CD version of this title as stating it is a 90 min. CD when the show clocks in at near 2.5 hours.

[RSBoots@aol.com] Hot August Night (KNEB-1/2) -- so far this is far and away the best source I have found for the Knebworth Fair show (1976). It's dubbed from very clean soundboard LP sources and sounds very crisp. There are a total of 17 songs. I'll keep this one and Midnight Beat's version until a complete soundboard is released (if ever). There is some cross-over between the two titles, but MB's has 5 songs not found on KNEB-1/2.

It has been several years since I heard this old 2 LP set (aka Happy Birthday Charlie) but don't think it's soundboard.

8/9 - VAR

CD-1 [1501-B]
Hyde Park, UK 7/5/69:
Jumpin' Jack Flash
No Expectations
The recording is good, but the sound at this performance is just BAD, and there's nothin that can be done about that. This is "not" the terrible
sounding audience source though, and was probably originally taken from Granada TV video, 60 minutes of which was officially released in
Japan. A.k.a. "Hyde Park 1969" on The Swingin' Pig (TSP-CD-023-1/2). TV broadcast quality mono with some cymbal panning
on the first track. Mick Taylor's first public performance. Jagger likes what he hears, and later in the show, during the slide lines in
Midnight Rambler, comments "Ah that's pretty good".
Oakland, CA 11/9/69, 2nd show:
Prodigal Son
You Gotta Move
Carol
Sympathy for the Devil
I'm Free
Honky Tonk Women
A.k.a. "Live'r Than You'll Ever Be" Swingin' Pig style (TSP-CD-043). Excellent audience in mono.
     There is some tape hiss.
Leeds University, UK 3/13/71:
Dead Flowers
Stray Cat Blues
A.k.a. "Get Your Leeds Lungs Out!" Swingin' Pig (TSP-CD-030). A great performance for the
"hometown" crowd. Radio broadcast quality in mono.
Fort Worth, TX 6/24/72:
Houston, TX 6/25/72:
Philadelphia, PA 7/21/72:
Bitch
Rock Off
Gimme Shelter
Taylor's solo screams, cry's, and personifies every scene played out in the song. It'll send shivers through your spine.
A.k.a. "Philadelphia Special II" Swingin' Pig [TSP-060-1/2] In the same song sequence. Un-mixed soundboard stereo.
NYC, NY 7/26/72:
All Down The Line ~
Rip This Joint ~
Sweet Virginia ~
Introductions ~
Bye Bye Johnny ~
A.k.a. "Welcome To New York" Swingin' Pig style (TSP-CD-038), including the added sound "coloring" from the NoNoise
treatment. Line mix soundboard with "wide" stereo sound.

Wembley, UK 9/9/73: *
Happy
Tumbling Dice
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Midnight Rambler
Jumpin' Jack Flash
Street Fighting Man *
"Markers" identify these tracks as "Brussels Affair 1973" Chameleon (8812) sources. The booklet included incorrectly lists JJF
     as Wembley. Broadcast quality stereo.
NYC, NY 6/27/75:
Angie
Wild Horses
Keith played these songs with a lot of phaser signal processing in '75 which gives them a very interesting feel.
The source is "Welcome Back To New York 1975" on Golden Hits [1306] which was made from an LP.
The LP source is "STER-e-o-BABY" RSVP [007] which was pressed on yellow vinyl. As the title alludes, this performance featured a
rare live rendition of Cherry Oh Baby (not on this release). Very good audience "sorta" stereo. Plays slightly slow as evidenced by out of pitch
     chimes on Angie.
Paris, FR 6/4/76:
Hand of Fate
Star Star
It's Only Rock 'n' Roll
Brown Sugar
This is the same tape source used for "Exil Aux Abattoirs" (4114-A) on Great Dane Records, but this is the clearer TSP version
from "Paris Aux Printemps" (TSP-CD-126-1/2). The tape trace is placed by the switching from line for the music to audience feed
for the clapping. It gets a little annoying after a while, especially because some of the switching is late! Excellent stereo soundboard/audience
(clapping & Jagger chatter). Ronnie burns on Hey Negrita from this show, which unfortunately wasn't included on this release.

Sweet Little Sixteen
Punk induced inspiration brings out the best in this performance from the Summer of '78. A.k.a. "Out On Bail 1978 U.S. Tour"
on Swingin' Pig (TSP-CD-064-1/2). Tape source in excellent line feed stereo soundboard. There are the usual drop-outs on this recording, and
the music is "colored" somewhat by the NoNoise treatment. I remember having the vinyl version of this title within weeks of the performance
date! The record was on the nostalgic Lurch label, and included a 7" gold vinyl disc on Pugsley. About 4 weeks after this the companion record
came out titled "In Again Out Again", this time on Oakland Records. Clearly a "Live'r" theme going on here with the labels!
Hampton, VA 12/18/81:

Ruby Tuesday
Street Fighting Man
Satisfaction
Also found on the "Seventh of July" on Chameleon (2-9000-1/2) and "Wembley '90" on Beech Martin (BM 034).
From a radio broadcast in stereo.
Washington, DC 8/1/94:
Love Is Strong
A.k.a. "First Night Stand" The Swingin' Pig (TSP-CD-180-1/2). First Night of the Voodoo Lounge Tour in excellent audience
quality. Single mic. or narrow placement "sorta" stereo.

There is a very nice color booklet included. Some of the photos are familiar and some are not. "Hot Stuff" Vol. One is not only a sampler
of the great soundboard performances, but also a tribute to the fantastic work of The Swingin' Pig!

Star Star
"A sad story about a bad girl" Keith does a restart on the opening chords as he politely waits for Jagger to quit talking.
Gimme Shelter
Keith cranks up the rate dial on the phaser effect for the intro. Lots of flutter picking by Wood on the solo.
Ain't Too Proud Too Beg
     There's a fade/splice between GS & ATPTB.
You Gotta Move
Chorus line version. Jagger gives bass drum mix instructionsto "Jean-Claire".

[CM] Very good quality stereo soundboard. Some audible tape hiss and lacking somewhat in clarity. The mix: Keith is down in the left channel, and
there's lots of Ronnie in the right on the first three tracks, but the balance improves as they go. An intense and inspired performance.

[jaaiii] Comparable in sound quality to the much acclaimed 'Bloody Night In Seattle', without the tape flutter problems.

[RSBoots@aol.com] From the 81 tour. A soundboard that has a bit of hiss, but otherwise not too bad.
Still, it doesn't rival Hampton 81.

[DH] 85 min; First released on LP from an audience tape, recent releases are from the movie soundtrack and a WLIR FM documentary, with only
"Down Home Girl" from the audience tape. The performance is sloppy but energetic. This concert has an unusual set list, possibly due to Taylor's
unfamiliarity with the band. (some hiss).
[jaaiii] Marathon live jams of Midnight Rambler & Sympathy For The Devil.
