ROLLING STONES
KANSAS CITY `81
HOT LIPS HLR-RS 0014/15
Kansas City, MO 12/15/81, Arrowhead Stadium w/Mick Taylor
7.75/8s - AUD

[Ron Wood]
"On the '81 tour in Kansas City, we heard that Mick Taylor was in town we invited him up on stage for a few numbers. Perhaps the reunion over
excited him." (maybe Taylor's as prone to over-excitement as some of his fans are)." He seemed to refuse to realize how much the band had changed
since his departure. He shocked us with how loud he was blasting it. Bulldozing through parts of songs that should have been subtle, ignoring the
breaks and taking uninvited solos. And the volume! I thought me and Keith play loud, but he was easily three times louder than us.
I was standing next to him, passing along messages from Keith who would say, 'Tell that fucker to turn it down!'
I was a little more diplomatic: 'Um, Mick, the song is finished' or 'It's in E, not F.' Afterwards, Keith told me, 'It's a good thing you were standing in between us or I'd have flattened him.' But he's a lovely man and it was great to see him." [p.37]

If you are a reggae fan of Tosh (was in Marley's Whalers) then this is something you will definitely want. My friend is great follower of Tosh and when he heard the quality of this CD it blew him away.

Previously found on: ALTAMONT SPEEDWAY [Shaved Disc TSD 003], GIMME SHELTER [Golden Hit Records], and ALTAMONT [Idol Mind ALTA 69-1/2]. The sound on this new VGP Release kicks ass on the shaved disc version. A nice improvement.

  • Fool To Cry One of the Stones longest concerts, definitely the longest of the '60s and '70s, before a large crowd. The Stones worked up a special expanded set list for this show only. Many audience tape recorders were running as well as the soundboard, plus there's also pro-shot video! The audience tapes are available on several LPs ranging from lousy to fairly good. Frustratingly the soundboard recording is incomplete, and the best version is on a rare German LP which also runs too fast. Neither of the 2 videos is close to complete either. To get the entire 2.5 hour show you must obtain about 3 LPs/CDs, as every one is missing something.

  • Street Fighting Man [chrisk@grove.ufl.EDU] The File says 7/8-Vid/Aud. I question the "Vid". It sounds all audience to me and I find it to agreeably be a 7/8. It sounds like a completely different source from the Hot August Night 2LP I have. Sound is more distant with some subtle echo as the recording sounds to be taken for near the back of the venue. However, I would say check with Mr. Heller but this appears to be an entire show on these CDs. Time clocks in at about 2hrs. 23 min. total. For completist thought, this would be the one to get. IMHO!
